Police interrogation of Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, detained over boycott post, revealed

It has been learned that 16 arrest warrants were issued as part of an investigation into a general boycott call made following the March 19 operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and the arrest of CHP's Presidential Candidate and İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, with 10 of those individuals taken into custody.

FAMOUS ACTOR ALSO DETAINED!

Among those detained is the famous actor Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, who stars in the series "Şakir Paşa Ailesi: Mucizeler ve Skandallar".

"IT IS A FORM OF PROTEST"

Üzümoğlu, who made a post on his social media account, had stated the following:

"A boycott is a form of protest that can be evaluated within the scope of the Constitution's freedom of expression and dissemination of thought, and the right to hold meetings and demonstrations. It is guaranteed by Articles 25, 26, and 34 of our Constitution."

The famous actor, who also supported Aybüke Pusat, who was removed from the TRT 1 series "Teşkilat" due to a boycott post, had said, "We are following the developments regarding our colleague Aybüke Pusat and we stand with her. Artistic labor finds meaning in freedom of expression. No actor can be fired for expressing their thoughts."

"CEM YİĞİT ÜZÜMOĞLU IS NOT ALONE"

In a statement released following the news of the detentions, the Actors' Union said, "Our Board Member, our colleague, our friend Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu was detained early this morning. We are trying to learn the details regarding the content of the investigation. We are in contact with his lawyers. Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu is not alone."

POLICE INTERROGATION REVEALED

According to a report by Tolga Balcı from Gazete Pencere, lawyers stated that police officers asked those detained over the boycott call questions such as, "What was your purpose?"

It was noted that those detained included both influencers with large followings and people with accounts with fewer followers. It was learned that the common point among the detained individuals was that they had shared the "We are on boycott on April 2" graphic.

The police asked those detained questions such as, "Is this account yours? Is there anyone else who uses it, and if so, who? Did you make this post? What was your purpose in posting it?"
