WHO IS TUNA KİREMİTÇİ?

Tuna Kiremitçi was born on February 24, 1973, in Eskişehir. He was born in Eskişehir as the child of a family of Filibe origin. He began music in the school orchestra while boarding at Galatasaray High School. He formed his first professional group, Kumdan Kaleler, with his friends at school, and the album "Denize Doğru," for which he wrote most of the lyrics and music, was released in 1996 under the Ada Müzik label.

His first poems were published in Varlık magazine during his high school years. His book titled "Ayabakanlar," which won him the Yaşar Nabi Nayır Poetry Award, met with readers in 1994. In 1997, he shared the Erguvan Balkan Poetry Award with Bosnian poet Izet Sarajlić. This was followed by his second poetry book, "Akademi," in 1998.

The novella "Git Kendini Çok Sevdirmeden," which he wrote during a period when he moved away from music, made a great impact and was considered one of the surprise literary events of that year. In 2003, his second novel "Bu İşte Bir Yalnızlık Var" and "Bazı Şiirler Bazı Şarkılar," a collection of his poems, were published. His 2005 novel "Yolda Üç Kişi" also reached a wide readership and gained acclaim. Later, his novels "Dualar Kalıcıdır" (2007), "Küçüğe Bir Dondurma" (2009), "Selanik'te Sonbahar" (2011), "Gönül Meselesi" (2012), "Uçan Halıların Ayrodinamik Sorunları" (2015), and "Kendi Seven Ağlamaz" (2016) were published.

His novels, in which he generally deals with the tragedies of ordinary people, the dilemmas of male-female relationships in today's society, and the melancholy of aging with a sad and sometimes smiling narrative, have been evaluated by Professor Gürsel Aytaç as examples of "romantic irony" in Turkish literature.

Tuna Kiremitçi, who studied cinema at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and whose short films have won awards at various festivals, directed his first and only feature film, "Adını Sen Koy," in 2009.

After releasing his first solo album, "Kendi Halinde," in 2007, he signed an album with the rock group Atlas (Selam Yabancı, 2013) as a soloist and songwriter in 2013. He recorded the EP "Bir Uyumsuz Bulut" with the group Atlas in 2015.

"Bu İşte Bir Yalnızlık Var" was adapted into a film in 2013, starring Engin Altan Düzyatan and Özgü Namal. Nurseli İdiz played a role in the 2014 theatrical adaptation of "Dualar Kalıcıdır." The same novel was adapted for the stage once again in 2019, this time under the name "Aşk Kalıcıdır," and was performed by Dilek Türker and Damla Cercişoğlu.
