Sezai Altekin, one of the legendary names of the Istanbul City Theatre, has passed away

Sezai Altekin, who served in the city theatres until his retirement, has passed away at the age of 79.

The master theatre actor, who had been experiencing health problems for some time, will be laid to rest today in Gündoğan, Bodrum.

HOW THE SAD NEWS WAS ANNOUNCED

Nedim Saban announced the sad news on his social media account with the message: "I am so sad. Sezai Altekin, yet we had received good news just the other day! I worked with that great actor in Halide Edib’s play 'Maske ve Ruh' (Mask and Soul), and I shared laughter at the table with that great heart with a child's spirit. I was lucky. May you rest in peace, Sezai Altekin."

WHO IS SEZAİ ALTEKİN?

He served in the City Theatres, which he joined in 1966, until his retirement. In addition to theatre acting, he also worked in television, cinema, and voice acting.

In the eighties, he took part in many voice acting projects alongside Gazanfer Özcan. He was particularly noted for his voice work as Barney Rubble and Papa Smurf. In the 2007-2008 season, he joined Duru Tiyatro as a guest actor for the play 'Bana Bir Picasso Gerek' (I Need a Picasso).

Sezai Altekin, who played the role of "Paşa Dede" in the series "Paşa Gönlüm" broadcast on Kanal D in 2014, worked with Ali Sabuncugil Management. He played the character of 'Beyefendi' (The Gentleman) in the series 'Tatar Ramazan'. Most recently, he appeared in the series 'İlişki Durumu: Karışık' (Relationship Status: Complicated) on Show TV.
