Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who was detained in a drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was arrested and sent to prison on December 11.

During the investigation process, Ersoy's position as Editor-in-Chief at Habertürk TV, which is under the management of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF), was also terminated.

The court decision stated that the accusations against Ersoy included "providing a place and opportunity for the use of narcotic substances," "establishing and managing an organization," and "committing crimes for the purpose of providing sectoral and financial benefits."

EX-WIFE PINAR ERBAŞ HAD BROKEN HER SILENCE

Following the arrest of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, his ex-wife and Show TV Main News Bulletin anchor Pınar Erbaş also came to the public's attention.

While it was noted that Erbaş had not appeared on the main news bulletin since December 19, Hande Bayraktar had presented the Show TV Main News on that date instead of Pınar Erbaş.

Following this development, allegations were made that Erbaş had been removed from the screen by the TMSF management due to the investigation file in which her name was allegedly mentioned in witness statements.

Breaking her silence on the allegations, Pınar Erbaş shared the process she was going through with the public. Stating that she had been under serious psychological pressure in recent days, Erbaş used the following expressions:

“For days, I have been presenting news that is shocking and indescribably heavy for me, without sleep. In the first few days, I thought I could endure it and continue my life without disrupting my work. However, my strength has run out.

I no longer have the strength to present even a single piece of news on the subject. For this reason, I asked for permission to stay away from the screen for a while. I would like to thank my managers for understanding this request and approaching my situation with sensitivity.”

On the other hand, singer and actress Gülben Ergen also brought Pınar Erbaş's absence from the screen to the agenda with a post she made on social media.

Sharing on her X account, Ergen said, “Why is Pınar Erbaş not on the screen? Why does she have to pay the price for having made a wrong marriage by not being able to do her job? Is a different kind of pressure being exerted on top of the shock she is experiencing mentally?”
