Zalim İstanbul, which aired in 2019 and was one of the most talked-about series of its time, is back in the headlines—not for its screen success, but for allegations regarding what happened behind the scenes.

Bahar Şahin, who played the character of Ceren in the series, claimed in a statement made years later that she had difficult days on set and was subjected to systematic psychological violence.

It was alleged that Şahin's remarks, in which she stated that this mobbing was carried out by a female colleague, were directed at Mine Tugay, who brought the character of Şeniz to life in the series.

While Bahar Şahin's statements found a wide echo on social media in a short time, all eyes turned to Mine Tugay. Tugay, however, denied the allegations in clear terms.

However, this response did not cause Şahin to remain silent. The young actress continued her claims by sharing on her social media account the formal notice she had sent to the production company during one of her previous projects, the series Gülümse Kaderine.

As the controversy grew, another actor from the series broke her silence. Sera Kutlubey, who played Bahar Şahin's sister in Zalim İstanbul, gave her support to Mine Tugay. This stance by Kutlubey sparked a new reaction from Bahar Şahin's camp.

Bahar Şahin described the events she claims took place in the past in another post on her social media account with the following words:

“Weren't you the one who told our private conversations to your mother's close friend, Aunt Emine, and then when the matter reached the producer, accused me by saying, ‘Bahar must have gossiped’? Or the one who, right after breaking up with your boyfriend, kissed my boyfriend at the break celebration in the director's trailer, and then brushed it off by saying, ‘I was very drunk’? Despite everything you have done, you are the one who is hostile toward me. Honestly, I don't know what to say.”
