Volkan Konak, the beloved name of Black Sea music, has passed away at the age of 58. According to a statement from the Chief Physician's Office of Gazimağusa State Hospital, a 112 emergency health team rushed to the hotel where Konak was performing following a report received at 23:23 last night. The initial medical intervention was performed by doctors present at the venue and subsequently by the 112 team.

Volkan Konak was intubated and transferred to the hospital. The statement noted that the artist was admitted to the hospital at 00:17 as 'dead on arrival' and was immediately taken to the CPR (Basic Life Support) room. A team consisting of an anesthesiologist, emergency room doctors, internal medicine specialists, and cardiologists provided advanced life support there for 25 minutes. However, despite all interventions and medical efforts, the artist could not be revived and passed away at 00:42.

Volkan Konak, one of the beloved names of Black Sea music, married Selma Konak in 1992. Facing financial difficulties at the time, the couple finally had the opportunity to hold a wedding 31 years later.

Volkan Konak, who prefers to keep his private life away from the public eye, said in a statement regarding his wife Selma Konak in recent years: 'She is my backpack, always by my side. We are living the Rahşan-Bülent Ecevit love together. The Volkan-Selma love is just like that. I still cannot sleep without holding Selma Hanım's hand,' he had said.

Expressing what love means to him, Konak had stated: 'I love love very much. The pain of love matured me. I am a man in love with love. To me, love first arrives like an earthquake, then turns into affection; but those are just aftershocks,' he had said.

'I AM EXAGGERATEDLY EMOTIONAL'

Volkan Konak, who has a special place in the hearts of his fans with his songs and poems, also expressed that he is extremely emotional and described himself as follows: 'I am a very emotional person, even to an exaggerated degree. I love tears and I am proud to have moist eyes. I cry often on long journeys and at night. Crying purifies my soul. Bad people have no tears, but good people do. A bad person is like a dried-up tree; it doesn't even have a shadow. I always prefer to remain green and moist.'

Volkan Konak was born and raised in the Maçka district of the Black Sea region. The traces of the Black Sea have always been evident in his songs, his discourse, and his artistic personality. He reached a wide audience by blending traditional Black Sea music with modern touches. Therefore, as a representative from the north of the Black Sea Region, he received the title of 'Son of the North'.

VOLKAN KONAK'S LIFE

Volkan Konak was born in 1967 in the village of Yeşilyurt in the Maçka district of Trabzon. After completing his primary education in Maçka, he entered the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory in 1983. He graduated from the conservatory in 1988 and completed his education in 1991 with a master's degree in Folk Music.

He began his music career in 1989 with the album 'Suların Horon Yeri', in which he collected compilations from the Maçka region. Later, he created a unique musical style enriched with ethnic motifs by composing works by poets such as Nâzım Hikmet and Yaşar Miraç.

VOLKAN KONAK'S CAREER

Volkan Konak released the album 'Efulim' in 1993, followed by the album 'Gelir misin Benimle' in 1994. After a break due to his military service, he began working on his third album, 'Volkanik Parçalar', and the album met with music lovers. In 1998, he released the album 'Pedaliza' from his own company, Kuzey Müzik Prodüksiyon.

Producing approximately 50 compositions since 1993, Konak won many awards and was chosen as the Best Music Artist of the Year by Politika magazine in 1997. Additionally, the world rights to one of his 1993 compositions were purchased by French producer Alain Finet.
