Black Sea artist Volkan Konak has been laid to rest.

Black Sea artist Volkan Konak was buried under a walnut tree in his hometown of Maçka, Trabzon, in accordance with his final wishes.

The body of the famous artist Volkan Konak, who fell ill during a concert in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and passed away at the hospital where he was taken, was brought to his hometown of Trabzon by air following a funeral ceremony held in Istanbul.

Konak's funeral was brought to the Güney neighborhood of the district after the funeral prayer was performed at noon in an area prepared in the center of the Maçka district.

A banner reading ‘May your place be in heaven, Son of the North’ was hung in the area where the funeral prayer was held.

It was learned that Volkan Konak had visited his father's grave in his hometown about 3 months ago, where he sang songs and wept until morning, and that he had expressed his wish to his wife, sister, and cousin to be buried under a walnut tree in the cemetery.

The funeral ceremony was attended by Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel and members of parliament, as well as Konak's friends from the art community, his loved ones, and the people of Maçka.

Actor Alper Kul, who attended the funeral, said, 'Condolences to our Turkey. Not just here, but a piece of everyone's heart across our entire country has been lost. He left too soon. For my part, I have lost a brother, but our country has lost a great artist, a value, a patriot, and a lover of his homeland. Our condolences. It is truly a sudden and great pain, a great loss. It is impossible to describe the value of this person with words. May we all have patience.'

CROWD CRUSH AT THE FUNERAL

Fans and relatives showed intense participation in Konak's funeral. At times, it became almost impossible to take a step, and a crush occurred during the funeral.

Due to the intense interest in the funeral, security barriers were knocked down, and tensions arose among those who wanted to get closer to the coffin.

WARNING FROM THE IMAM: PERFORM YOUR FINAL DUTY WELL

The crush before the ceremony continued during the funeral prayer. Seeing that the rows were broken, the imam addressed the congregation, saying, 'If you love Volkan Konak, let us perform our final duty to him properly. Please follow the row order; otherwise, it will not be possible to perform the prayer. Let us take a step back and fulfill our final act of worship, our final duty to Mr. Volkan. For the sake of Allah, please take a step back.'
