Turkey's first female horse racing announcer was found dead in her home: The farewell message Esen Gök sent to her sister raises questions

39-year-old Tay TV announcer Esen Gök was found dead in her home in the Osmaniye neighborhood of Istanbul's Bakırköy district. After her relatives, who had not heard from her for some time, notified the police, teams arrived at the address and entered the home with the help of a locksmith. An examination of the home determined that Gök had died after hanging herself from a natural gas pipe with a bedsheet.

THE DOOR WAS LOCKED, THE KEY WAS IN THE LOCK

Initial investigations determined that the door to the home waslocked from the inside,and the key was still in the lock. While no signs of forced entry or anysuspicious activity were found, a judicial investigation into the incident wasinitiated.

Esen Gök's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute following the initial procedures. An autopsy performed there confirmed that the young announcer had taken her own life. 

A note found in the home drew attention. The note, believed to have been written by Esen Gök, stated: "Sister, you are not responsible, you never did anything wrong. I was always looking for an excuse." 

SHE ANNOUNCED SHE WAS TAKING LEAVE DURING HERLAST BROADCASTIt

was learnedthat Esen Gök announced to viewers on the July 11th Friday broadcast of the Tay TV program "Hipodromdan Güne Bakış" (A Look at the Day from the Hippodrome) that she was taking a one-week leave.Gök had used the followingwords duringthe broadcast: "Iam asking for a one-weekleave from you.Next Monday, 'Hipodromdan Güne Bakış' will of course be on the screen."

Following the news of Gök's death, Tay TV shared a message of condolence on its social media accounts. The statement included the following:"There are no words to describe our pain! We have learned with deep sadness of the passing of Esen Gök, Turkey's first female horse racing announcer, our colleague, and the host of our 'Hipodromdan Güne Bakış' program. We extend our condolences to her family, the horse racing community, her loved ones, and her fans."HER FUNERAL WILL BE HELD IN NAZİLLİ

Esen Gök's body, which was received by her family from the Forensic Medicine Institute, was taken to her hometown of Nazilli in Aydın. Her funeral prayer will be held today at noon at the Zafer Neighborhood Yavuz Selim Mosque.
