Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke receives MBE
Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke and her mother have received the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE). The mother and daughter were honored for their services as founders of a charity.
Emilia Clarke, who played the mother of dragons, Daenerys Targaryen/Khaleesi, in the Game of Thrones series, has been honored by the Royal Family.
The British actress was awarded the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).
The honor was presented to the 37-year-old actress by Prince William.
Both the actress and her mother, Jennifer, were recognized for their work with the charity SameYou.
ABOUT THE ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE
The Order of the British Empire is an order of chivalry in the United Kingdom, established on June 4, 1917, by King George V.
The order has five classes for both civil and military divisions.
They are ranked from the highest to the lowest class as follows:
- Knight Grand Cross or Dame Grand Cross (GBE)
- Knight Commander or Dame Commander (KBE or DBE)
- Commander (CBE)
- Officer (OBE)
- Member (MBE)
Only the first two ranks carry the right to be addressed as sir or dame.
