George Clooney criticizes Trump, calls leaders 'incompetent people'
The American actor, director, and producer George Clooney said his country is being governed by "incompetent people." Taking aim at US President Donald Trump without naming him, Clooney said, "It's not easy living in a country that is run by incompetent people."
Clooney, who will receive the "Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement" at the opening ceremony of the 83rd Venice Film Festival in Italy this year, met with members of the press ahead of the ceremony.
Taking aim at US President Donald Trump without naming him, Clooney said, "It's not easy living in a country that is run by incompetent people."
Stating that he believes they are in an unfortunate moment in history, Clooney said that the US has gone through other difficult times and that this is one of them.
Pointing to the midterm elections to be held in the US in November, Clooney said, "This will certainly be a moment of assessment, and if everything goes well, we will return to a more normal situation."
