Giray Altınok: They didn't like the Prince, so I cast them as slaves

Actor and screenwriter Giray Altınok, the creator of the series Prens, was a guest on Az Önce Konuştum, hosted by Candaş Tolga Işık. Altınok made striking statements during the program.

Here are the highlights from Giray Altınok's remarks:

Drawing attention to the cancel culture in Turkey, Giray Altınok said, "In a program I attended two years ago, I said, 'I don't get lynched.' Since that day, I started getting targeted. Since that day, I've started getting lynched every three days. I am the only person to be lynched for a spelling mistake. I can understand this very well: Everything has a birth, a growth, a phase, and a point it reaches. It is loved and appreciated. After that, no matter what you do, the tide begins to turn. This is true for every job, every thing, and everyone. Everything you do and everything you say starts to annoy people."

"I CAN ALSO FALTER, I AM HUMAN"

Continuing his criticism, Giray Altınok said, "I don't know if it's like this all over the world, but we have this: When you are at the very bottom, filming Bongomi TV sketches or Prens, people say, 'Brother, you are so great, you're a lion, open the way for these people.' Then you reach these levels. The exact opposite happens. You started by applauding from there. I have gone on in more or less the same way. I can also be surprised or falter by the things I experience; I am human."

"MY CLOSE FRIENDS DIDN'T LIKE PRENS"

Sharing notable anecdotes about the series Prens, Giray Altınok explained that his close friends did not like the first episode, saying, "I took the first episode of the first season. With great enthusiasm, I gathered my three closest friends and went to their house. I said, 'I'm so excited. I want you to watch this.' We watched the first episode of the first season. I looked back from time to time to see if they were still there. They watched it with no reaction. They said, 'This didn't work.' They didn't laugh at all. It was one of the biggest devastations of my life."

"I CAST MY FRIENDS IN SLAVE ROLES"

Giray Altınok said, "They are my closest friends in life. I went to the production office and sat down. I had to make a decision. I chose to stand by it. I am calling out to them from here: May God deal with you as He sees fit. I hope you feel ashamed. All three of them acted as guest stars in the third season. I stood them in front of that camera. They played slaves. Slaves in the slave market."
