Gonca Vuslateri: 'I couldn't pay my university tuition'

Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan hosted Gonca Vuslateri on the program Empati, which airs on NTV.

Famous actress Gonca Vuslateri told Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan about her childhood.

'IT WAS A VERY PENNILESS PERIOD...'

Vuslateri said, "I started going to theater courses with my mother's encouragement. My mother was a very good theater audience. She had a very strong literary side, and my sister is a musician. My father was a soldier; he read more political things... They used to say 'Gonca will study acting' when I was a child. I got into university during my parents' divorce, and it was a very penniless period for me. It was impossible for me to pay the tuition; we couldn't pay it!" and continued her words as follows:
"My sister opened my mind by saying there was the Müjdat Gezen Art Center, and I could study there on a scholarship... My family also had a spiritual bond with Müjdat Gezen. That's how I started."

'I USED TO ASPIRE TO BE A DOCTOR'

Gonca Vuslateri also explained her desire to become a doctor: "What I aspired to most was to be a doctor... Doing surgeries and such, I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid of anything; if someone is bleeding, I don't say I won't look, I look twice as hard. But I don't want it to be a psychopathic statement either..."
