Great White lead singer Jack Russell dies

It has been announced that Jack Russell, the lead singer of the well-known 1980s rock band Great White, passed away on Thursday due to health issues. 

Russell had been battling multiple system atrophy (MSA) and Lewy body dementia. His health struggles were announced last month, leading to his decision to retire from touring.

In announcing Russell's death, Great White stated, “Our deepest condolences to Jack Russell’s family. We hope they find comfort in knowing that Jack’s incredible voice will live on forever.” 

In their post, the band remembered Russell as “one of rock’s biggest champions” and added, “All those wonderful years we spent together will remain in our hearts.”

Russell co-founded the band Dante Fox with Mark Kendall in 1977, which became known as Great White in the 1980s. The band's biggest hits included “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” and “The Angel Song.”

Russell left Great White in 1996 to pursue a solo career but returned to the band in 1999. He left the group again in 2001 and began touring as Jack Russell’s Great White in 2002.

In 2003, a pyrotechnics disaster at one of their concerts in Rhode Island resulted in a fire that killed 100 people and injured 230 others. Due to the devastation caused by the fire, the owners of the concert venue and the band's tour manager were charged. Russell was not sued, but the band members agreed to pay 1 million dollars in compensation.
