Gülben Ergen responds to Çatalca Mufti who targeted Volkan Konak

While farewell messages poured in for Konak, known as the 'Son of the North,' a social media post by Çatalca Mufti Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu caused a major stir.

Like many figures from the art world, Gülben Ergen responded to the mufti's post via her social media account.

CONTROVERSIAL POST FROM THE MUFTI

In his post following Volkan Konak's passing, Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu drew significant backlash by stating, 'He croaked on stage. Now they will ask us; how did you know him? This is our answer. This is how we knew him. He who drinks for us, surely burns for us.' These words sparked widespread reaction on social media.

RESPONSE FROM GÜLBEN ERGEN

Gülben Ergen, a well-known figure in the art world, harshly criticized the expressions used by the mufti in a statement she made on her social media account.

Ergen said the following in her post:

'On this sad holiday, where a mufti says a deceased artist has 'croaked,' I wish ease to our listeners who come to have fun and hold onto life, and to all my colleagues who try to entertain them.'
