Hadise parts ways with UNICEF

Hadise has issued a second statement following the backlash on social media regarding a video she prepared for the month of Ramadan, which was shared in collaboration with UNICEF.

Some social media users reacted to the video, claiming that it portrayed Turkey as a country 'in need of aid.' The criticism, which intensified quickly, reached a harsh level, with some even calling for the singer to be stripped of her citizenship.

In her first statement addressing the growing criticism, Hadise noted that the Ramadan video was prepared in accordance with a script provided by UNICEF. Emphasizing that she had no intention of portraying Turkey as 'in need of aid,' the singer stated that Turkey is a strong country.

However, as the controversy continued, Hadise released another statement in the following hours, announcing that she had ended her ties with UNICEF. In her statement, the singer said: "I would like to add a few more things to my statement from yesterday. I am reading your messages and comments carefully; I see your reactions and I understand you. I respect them.

Everyone knows the stance I have maintained for years regarding the right to life for women, children, all people, and all living beings. I have never compromised on this stance, and I never will. While I would like to specifically state that I will act much more sensitively and meticulously regarding aid campaigns from now on, I also want to share with you that I have ended my ties with UNICEF.

During this blessed month of Ramadan, I will continue to do my best by providing my support to children in need, especially in Gaza, completely independently."
