Hakan Aysev: 'My song was used in the Atatürk film without permission'
The "Çanakkale Folk Song," which tenor Hakan Aysev recorded for an album project, was used in the Atatürk film without his permission. Speaking on the matter, Aysev said, "Out of courtesy, they could have told me. Perhaps my name could have even been credited. That is the only thing I am hurt by."
A notable claim has emerged regarding the Atatürk film, which was released in theaters last Friday.
Tenor Hakan Aysev stated that the "Çanakkale Folk Song" featured in the film was used with his own vocals, but that no permission was obtained from him.
Tenor Hakan Aysev was greatly surprised to learn that the "Çanakkale Folk Song," which he had recorded for an album project, was used in the final scene of the Atatürk film.
No permission was obtained regarding the use of this song, which is heard as the film's credits roll.
'I HAVE NO FINANCIAL DEMANDS'
In his statement regarding the issue, Aysev said, "Permission was surely obtained from the album's production company and the royalties were paid; I have no doubt about that. I do not have any financial demands anyway."
'I AM HURT BECAUSE MY NAME WAS NOT CREDITED'
However, expressing his resentment that his name was not mentioned in the film, he said, "I do not need to debate my love for Atatürk with anyone. I had sung two songs for the 'Songs Our Father Loved' album. I felt a great honor that it was included in this film, and I was very happy, but out of courtesy, they could have told me. Perhaps my name could have even been credited. That is the only thing I am hurt by." (Hürriyet)
