Famous singer Hakan Peker ran as the IYI Party's mayoral candidate for Safranbolu in the March 31 local elections.
The famous singer, who lost the election with 3.68 percent of the vote, spoke out for the first time.
According to a report by Snob Magazin, the singer, who emerged from the election in defeat and finished fifth among the candidates, stated that politics is not under anyone's monopoly and that he holds no grudges against anyone.
Peker said, "I haven't closed the book on politics; I became a mayoral candidate. If I had been elected, I would have done many things. That place would have become a complete city of culture. It is a UNESCO World Heritage city, and we had projects that would do it justice.
Whose monopoly is politics under? Is there an expert on this business in this country? Every person who has the right to vote and be elected can enter politics. I entered and became a candidate. I have no resentment. Not every football player scores 10 goals in a match, so it's not like you're always going to lose," he said.
