Hakan Ural detained at dawn! Statement released by his lawyer

Sema Boztemir, who conducts street interviews on social media, filed a complaint against program host and actor Hakan Ural on charges of 'insult'.

Following the complaint, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the charge of insult, and instructions were sent twice to the Beykoz District Police Department to take Hakan Ural's statement.

POLICE COULD NOT REACH HAKAN URAL

Police authorities reported that in the first instance, his lawyer was informed but no one appeared, and in the second instance, they went to the address but found he was not at home; they further noted that neighbors and those in the vicinity had no information, and therefore they returned the instruction document stating he could not be brought in.

DETENTION ORDER FROM THE PROSECUTOR

The Public Prosecutor conducting the investigation issued an instruction for Hakan Ural to be detained at his address and brought in under escort regarding the insult charge, warning that otherwise, legal action would be taken against those responsible.

Upon the instruction, police teams raided Hakan Ural's home at dawn and detained him over the 'insult' charge, despite the conditions for detention not being met.

STATEMENT FROM HIS LAWYER

In a statement made by Hakan Ural's lawyer Nazgül Çelik, it was declared that her client's home and workplace are in the Beykoz mansions, that there are always employees at his home, that there are 24-hour security guards at the site, and that her client hosts a television program every day and his workplace is known to everyone. She stated that none of his lawyers were called by the police, and in light of these facts, the contents of the reports do not reflect the truth, and they will file a complaint to initiate legal and criminal proceedings against those responsible.

COMPLAINT TO THE HSK AGAINST THE PROSECUTOR WHO ISSUED THE DETENTION ORDER

Çelik announced that they will file a complaint with the HSK (Council of Judges and Prosecutors) against Public Prosecutor Mehmet Çoban, who issued the detention order for an insult charge under these conditions, for the crimes of misconduct in office and deprivation of liberty, noting that her client's whereabouts are known and there is no suspicion of flight.
