MET WITH BACKLASH IN THE PARTY BASE
The Republican People's Party's (CHP) decision to re-nominate Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş in Hatay, which was devastated by the Maraş-centered earthquakes on February 6, 2023, was met with backlash within the party base and the public.
As the CHP's refusal to step back from Savaş's candidacy became a subject of controversy within the party, it was announced that the candidate could be re-evaluated.
'I AM HONORED, BUT...'
Making a statement on his X account following the claim, Levent said, "My dears! I am the president of Ahbap. And I cannot take on a political identity.
Offers also came from other political parties. I am honored. But my decision not to enter politics is final. There is much we have to do for this country..."
