Harvest begins in Bafra Plain: 13 thousand tons of broccoli yield expected
The harvest of broccoli planted in August and September has begun in the Bafra Plain. A yield of 13 thousand tons of broccoli is expected this year.
The harvest of broccoli planted in August and September has begun in the Bafra district of Samsun. It has been announced that a broccoli yield of 13 thousand tons is expected.

Adem Aşçı, President of the Bafra Vegetable Producers Association, stated that 80 thousand decares of land in the Bafra Plain are planted with winter vegetables, and 75 thousand decares are planted with summer vegetables.
Stating that broccoli cultivation was carried out on 6 thousand 500 decares of land in the Bafra Plain, Aşçı said, "The harvest of broccoli planted in August and September has begun. Broccoli yields 2 tons of product per decare. A yield of 13 thousand tons is expected this year."

Expressing that there is a decrease in broccoli yield compared to last year, Aşçı said, "Weather conditions were good in 2023. This year, there was one flood in August and two in September. Therefore, there will be a decrease in yield in 2024. Broccoli coming from the field is being purchased by brokers for 100 liras per kilogram. Prices are good; the reason for this is that there is less broccoli in the plain. This has affected the prices."

Pointing out that the harvested broccoli is sent to the domestic market, Aşçı used the expression, "It is sent to Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, and Rize, as well as Konya and Ankara. As the crop increases, it can go everywhere in the country."

Explaining that they continue to produce all kinds of winter and summer vegetables and legumes in the Bafra Plain, Aşçı said that they expect support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry because input costs for diesel, fertilizer, pesticides, and energy are very high.
