Hazal Filiz Küçükköse: 'I would like to portray the life of someone who has paid a great price'

Actress Hazal Filiz Küçükköse, who rose to fame with the series 'Kara Sevda' and 'Beni Affet', spoke to MAG.

The famous actress, who talked about her acting journey, career, goals, and unknown aspects of her life, said, "There are 1-2 projects I am in talks with. It will be finalized soon and I will meet with the audience." Küçükköse also spoke for the first time about her childhood days spent in Tokat.

What did you feel at the first moment of your acting career?

There was a moment that was influential in my decision to pursue an acting career. It was a crossroads in my life. While weighing the pros and cons, I was waiting for a sign to make the right choice. That day, I had met a friend to get a tattoo. While waiting for her, I saw a huge headline on the open pages of a foreign magazine on the coffee table.

What did it say?

It said in French, “La chance sourit aux courageux.” While trying to pronounce it, I looked up the meaning of the sentence and the answer I was looking for was right there: Fortune favors the bold. At that moment, I made my decision. I called my producer to say I would sign the contract. I had chosen to move from Ankara to Istanbul and continue my career as an actress. By the way, I got my first tattoo that day to never forget that moment, the turning point of my life. Just like the saying, I felt lucky and bold.

Do you think acting is something that can be learned, or is it a matter of instinct and talent?

Actually, I can say it is all of them. Realizing your talents through instinct can be a start, but afterwards, you learn as you experience it throughout the process, and you experience it as you learn; this is a situation that progresses in an intertwined way. It is an endless path, an endless experience.

A very large fan base started talking about you with the 'Kara Sevda' series. A lot of time has passed, but can we learn your feelings about 'Kara Sevda'?

Kara Sevda was both very well-liked by the audience and we were very compatible as a team. You cannot always work with such teams. I feel lucky in this regard.

'I WAS SAD WHEN SAYING GOODBYE'

Which of the projects you have been involved in so far was the most unforgettable?

It was the character Zeynep in the Kara Sevda series. Since it was a long journey, I was living Zeynep's emotions more than being Hazal. I didn't have trouble cutting ties, but I was truly sad when saying goodbye.

What kind of productions excite you more to be involved in?

There are lived, real, and difficult life stories. For example, characters who have been tested physically and emotionally, who have faced great trials, who have written their names in history by paying great prices, and who have stories of success or failure are very appealing to me. They are films that I watch with curiosity about the difficulties they experienced during that process, their choices, and what the results would be. Honestly, I think it would be very enjoyable to play them as well.

'MY CHILDHOOD WAS SPENT IN TOKAT'

If we go a little further back, which city did you live in and accumulate the most unforgettable moments? For example, what would you do?

A large part of my childhood was spent in the Turhal district of Tokat. Since it was a small place, it was a place where art and the ability to touch people's lives were not very close. I never forget the moments when my twin and I would regularly set up a theater stage for years starting from the age of seven and perform for all our friends. All our friends would wait for those days. It was the biggest, most social, and most artistic activity for everyone. I can say that we were the ones who introduced them to theater for the first time.

Can you give a few examples of interesting moments you had with your twin?

We have so many memories... Because we didn't realize how much we looked like each other, we used to get very angry at first. We would get annoyed when people confused us and asked, “Are you Hazal or are you Deniz?” saying “How can you confuse us!” As time went on, we learned to make fun of this situation, and we even turned it into an advantage! At school and in our circle of friends, there were many things we did in each other's place. We even took each other's exams!

'THOSE AGES WERE ANNOYING'

When February is mentioned, the first thing that comes to many people's minds is Valentine's Day. What comes to your mind?

When February is mentioned, the first thing that comes to my mind is the semester break, then my birthday, and then Valentine's Day... When I was little, my birthdays always coincided with the semester break, and for those ages, it was really annoying. All my friends would be on vacation. As I got older, it became closer to Valentine's Day. It had its advantages and disadvantages from time to time. Although Valentine's Day doesn't mean much these days, my birthdays no longer coincide with the semester break. That's why I'm lucky!

So, what do you think about love?

The effect of love in my life is great. I can say it is a point that nourishes me or sometimes drains me... The balance can be off sometimes!

How does your day go? What do you enjoy doing the most?

It changes as “if I don't have a set” or “if I have a set.” When I'm on set, I only concentrate on work, and actually, there is no time to deal with other things. If I don't have a set, I like to live spontaneously. I try to spend time with my friends, do sports, play the piano if I can focus occasionally, and improve myself. Mostly, I focus on wherever I feel like.

How should a “quality day” be in your opinion?

In my opinion, a quality day is when you can spare time for yourself. Whether you watch a movie, go for a walk, or spend time with a friend. Everything you enjoy doing actually becomes a quality day.

'EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS BUILT ON BALANCE'

Have you ever had any regrets in life? What do you think about pushing the limits?

I have been someone who pushes my limits for as long as I can remember. The bad part is that it also has no end and no limit. Looking at the experiences I have gained, I have now reached the awareness to see where I should stop or continue. The other way is full of experience but extremely tiring and wearing. Everything in life is built on a balance. I am also trying to acquire a perspective on finding my own balance and maintaining it.

In which projects will we see you in the near future?

There are a few projects I am currently in talks with. One of them is a digital project. I will share it as soon as it is finalized.
