He forgot the password to 251 million dollars

A young entrepreneur who cannot access the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of bitcoin he bought about 13 years ago has become a topic of international public interest... 

German-born entrepreneur Stefan Thomas announced that he bought 7,002 bitcoins in 2011 but forgot the password to the virtual wallet where he stored them. 

Stating that he wrote the wallet password on a piece of paper with a pencil but lost that paper, Thomas said that the value has now reached 210 million dollars. He noted that he has 10 password attempts to access the money in the digital wallet called IronKey. 

HE HAS USED 8 OF HIS 10 ATTEMPTS

Thomas, who lives in San Francisco, USA, said he has used 8 of his 10 attempts over the last 10 years. With only 2 attempts left, and facing the prospect of losing the money forever if he does not succeed in these attempts, Thomas said, "I feel like a complete idiot for losing my password." 

However, Thomas is not alone... Among those who invested in bitcoin, there are thousands of people who forgot their passwords and lost access to their money. According to official data, it is estimated that approximately 150 billion dollars worth of bitcoin has become inaccessible. 

Thomas said, "I was completely depressed. I couldn't sleep at night. I was depressed. But aside from losing money, I couldn't believe myself for losing something so important. Many people reached out to me with offers to help find the password. A 'psychic' contacted me and wanted to help me find the password with their special powers."

However, Thomas said he has not given up completely. In addition to his two attempts, he mentioned a much riskier option. Explaining the last possible way to get his money back, Thomas said, "You have to take the USB drive apart and then use a scanning electron microscope to remove the chip itself layer by layer." Thomas added, "But this is incredibly time-consuming: you need a laboratory and experts, and everything costs a lot of money. And the result is very uncertain." 

Thomas stated that life has gone on since that day and he has started to focus on his work, saying, "I had to get back to life. I went back to my work and bought new bitcoins."
