Lawyer Mustafa İlker Gürkan, who served as the President of the Muğla Bar Association for three terms before 2014, has passed away in Bodrum, where he was receiving treatment.

It was reported that Gürkan, a revolutionary from the '68 Generation and a close friend of Deniz Gezmiş, passed away at the age of 76 yesterday morning due to complications that developed in his body.

In a statement made by the Muğla Bar Association, it was stated that Gürkan's funeral will be laid to rest in Bitez Cemetery following the noon prayer, after a ceremony to be held at the Bodrum Courthouse today at 12:45.

Mustafa İlker Gürkan, a contemporary of Deniz Gezmiş, had also participated in the “Mustafa Kemal March from Samsun to Ankara” held in 1968.

During the period when youth protests were rising, he served as the President of the Revolutionary Students Union (DÖB).
