Breaking his silence after the event, Ozan Güven shared a written statement on his social media account, which included the following remarks:

"IT WAS VERY, VERY HEAVY FOR ME"

"First of all, I must say this: I have never underestimated the feelings of people who think about, criticize, get angry at, or react to me.

The incident that took place that evening was very, very heavy for me.

A person being targeted, humiliated, judged, and forced to be removed from a public space is, in every sense, a crossing of boundaries and limits.

For 6 years, many things have been said about me. Much has been written, and much has been unfairly repeated.

I remained silent out of respect for the legal process, but I am often made a target within the same pre-judgments, using the same designed expressions and the same memorized sentences.

But silence should not mean that a person's dignity is disregarded."

"CRITICISM IS ONE THING, LYNCHING IS ANOTHER"

Stating in his explanation that there is a difference between the criticisms directed at him and lynching, Güven made the following assessment:

"I do not expect anyone to love or support me unconditionally. I was just saying this: Criticism is one thing, lynching is another. Reaction is one thing, disregarding a person is another.

I am a human being too!

What hurt me the most at that venue was that common sense, distance, and human measure were lost within that reaction, and that I was being provoked.

I am saying these words not with anger, but with a call for common sense. This situation is no longer acceptable to me.

I hope that while criticizing, getting angry, or reacting, we do not forget to remain human."

In the continuation of his statement, Güven also made remarks regarding the establishment where the incident occurred:

"I leave the venue where the incident took place and those involved to justice first, and then to God.
