High tension in Malmö: Israel's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest protested
Israel's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held tonight, was protested by tens of thousands of people in the Swedish city of Malmö, which is hosting the event.
Gathering at the Great Square (Stor Torget) following a call from numerous non-governmental organizations in the country, approximately 30 thousand people demanded that Israel be removed from the Eurovision Song Contest.
"Children are being killed in Gaza", "Stop the genocide" and "Palestine forever" were written on banners, while demonstrators also carried models representing the children killed in Gaza and chanted slogans such as "Free Palestine", "End the occupation" and "Killer Israel".
DESCRIBED AS 'HYPOCRISY'
In a speech delivered there, it was pointed out that for nearly 200 days, Israel has been raining bombs on Palestinians, regardless of whether they are children, babies, the elderly, or women, and the invitation of genocidal Israel to Eurovision was described as hypocrisy.
The grand final of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest will be held tonight at 21:00 TRT, organized by the EBU and the Swedish public broadcaster SVT.
Guests are prohibited from entering with Palestinian flags.
WHEN IS THE EUROVISION FINAL, WHAT TIME?
The Eurovision final will begin on Saturday evening, May 11, 2024, at 21:00. The winning country will be determined after the final stage of the competition.
