Holiday congestion at Sarp Border Gate
The congestion at the Sarp Border Gate in Artvin ahead of the holiday has caused long queues of trucks. Truck drivers waiting for their turn by parking on the highway have brought traffic to a standstill.
Long queues of trucks have formed at the Sarp Border Gate, one of Turkey's most important gateways to the Caucasus and Central Asia.
Trucks arriving at the Sarp Border Gate from different regions of Turkey to deliver export cargo to their destination countries have caused congestion here.
Due to the parking areas in the region being full, truck drivers continue to wait for their turn by parking in the emergency lane of the Black Sea Coastal Road, starting from the Sarp Border Gate and extending along the route through the districts of Kemalpaşa, Hopa, and Arhavi.
NUMBER OF TRUCKS WAITING TO CROSS IS 1,560
While the number of trucks waiting for their turn to cross due to both transit documents and the current congestion is stated to be 1,560 as of today, the trucks passing through the center of the Hopa district have caused heavy traffic in the town center ahead of the holiday.
In addition to the long lines of vehicles, traffic has occasionally come to a complete standstill.
