Kilmer was known for his character Iceman in the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun and his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the 1995 film Batman Forever.
The master actor also portrayed legendary musician Jim Morrison in the 1991 film The Doors.
Val Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014.
