Hüseyin Günay, who was removed from his position as NTV's Washington Representative due to an off-the-record recording containing profanity during a meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump at the White House in October 2025, has made a new post on his social media account.

Hüseyin Günay's statement on leaving America: The White House and the Pentagon are all a sham

It had become clear that Hüseyin Günay, who was removed from his position as NTV's Washington Representative due to an off-the-record recording containing profanity during a meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump at the White House, would begin working as Halk TV's Europe representative.

Günay, who will be moving to London, the capital of the United Kingdom, made the following post regarding his departure from America:

I am leaving America for good today as a mini family of three, having arrived here alone 10 years ago. I could never love this country.

Of course, it has very beautiful aspects, but the loneliness, the distance from Turkey, and the concept of happiness based on spending money are not the life we are looking for.

And then there is the well-known video incident, of course :) I have mostly had a good friendship with you, the cruel people of X, and I especially thank you.

Being in Washington as a journalist was a tremendous experience. To put it in one word, the White House, the Pentagon, and such are all a sham. Don't build them up in your eyes. Our new place will be London. For those who happen to pass by, I will make brewed tea, not milky tea.
