If you cannot put your phone down, you might be nomophobic!

Nomophobia, or the fear of being away from digital devices, is making people glued to their phones. Research shows that this fear affects more than 90 percent of people, and individuals are hesitant to go out without their phones or go to places where they do not have reception.

According to an analysis by ESET, digital assistants are designed to keep people more attached to their screens, and unhealthy attachment can have negative effects on personal privacy and security.

Convenience: There are approximately seven billion smartphones worldwide, and these devices make our daily lives easier. However, the design of these applications is specifically crafted to ensure we spend more time on screens. Using a phone for more than three hours a day can actually stop being beneficial.

Infinite content stream: The endless content offered by the internet can lock people onto screens and cause them to become buried in content without realizing how time passes.

Instant gratification: The likes and comments you receive on social media trigger dopamine release in the brain, reinforcing certain behaviors and making it likely that you will want more.

Non-stop notifications: While notifications can encourage healthy habits, they can also encourage users to get lost in content and cause them to waste their time.

Escape: Technology offers a portal to escape from daily stress. However, this escape can cause you to miss out on real-life experiences and reduce your productivity.
