It has been revealed what will happen to the Haydarpaşa and Sirkeci stations leased to the Ministry of Tourism

Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz shared details in his column today regarding the construction to be carried out at the Haydarpaşa and Sirkeci stations, which have been leased to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

"What kind of development will take place? What types of buildings will be constructed? Will the historical structures and textures be preserved? Which companies will win the construction tenders?" Saymaz, who raised these questions, wrote, "The claim is that the Haydarpaşa and Sirkeci stations and their grounds will be transformed into a biennale and art center."

Saymaz stated the following:

“In a letter written by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change to the Kadıköy Municipality, it is stated that the two stations have been declared a special project area in accordance with clause 'g' of Article 97/1 of Presidential Decree No. 1. According to the letter, the future of Haydarpaşa and Sirkeci will be shaped as follows:

'With the transformation of the Haydarpaşa and Sirkeci stations into an art center, it is aimed that Istanbul will turn into a world-class art destination, a biennale and art center spanning two continents will be created, the Istanbul Biennale will rank among the most important biennales in the world, and by emphasizing the power and unifying effect of art, it will increase Istanbul's cultural richness and make a major contribution to its international promotion...'

Within the scope of this project, a museum, library, and handicraft workshops will be established on the Anatolian side.”
