Australian journalist and filmmaker John Pilger has died in London at the age of 84.

The famous journalist's family announced on X that John Pilger passed away in London at the age of 84.
The statement read, "His journalism and documentaries were celebrated around the world, but to his family he was simply the most amazing and cherished father, grandfather and partner. Rest in peace."
Pilger, who worked for publications such as Reuters and the Daily Mirror and whose documentaries won numerous awards including Emmy and BAFTA, was known for his harsh criticism of Australia's treatment of its Indigenous people.
Pilger had been living in the UK since the 1960s.
