Kanye West closes his X account: ''I am grateful to Elon Musk''
After posting about Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl, the American Football League final, Kanye West deleted his X account, thanking Elon Musk for giving him the opportunity to 'vent'.
The controversial rapper, who sparked major backlash on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards with a performance that included his wife Bianca Censori, had previously drawn criticism for antisemitic outbursts on social media and in interviews.
HITLER POSTS DREW BACKLASH
On Friday, February 7, he used the phrases "I love Hitler. I am a Nazi" in a series of posts on his X account, drawing backlash from many X users.
A 'sensitive content warning' was later added to West's account due to his use of offensive profanity. Celebrities such as David Schwimmer and Piers Morgan called for West to be banned from the platform.
DELETED HIS X ACCOUNT
The 47-year-old rapper, also known as Ye, deleted his account after continuing to post during the Super Bowl event, which took place on the morning of Monday, January 10, 2025.
In his final post before closing his account, he stated: "I'm leaving Twitter. I'm grateful to Elon for letting me vent. It was very therapeutic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. I love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. Good day and good night."
