Following the detention and arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, reactions on social media are growing like an avalanche. While some celebrities have chosen to remain silent, others are openly supporting İmamoğlu.
Famous actor Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ was among those who shared a post on social media. On his Instagram account the other evening, Tatlıtuğ shared a moment from a protest in Saraçhane showing a peaceful heart gesture made with hands between a protester and a police officer, along with the message, 'This is it.'
Tatlıtuğ's post sparked a major debate on social media. While one segment found the famous actor's reaction sufficient, some users stated that Tatlıtuğ was trying to calm the reactions by posting a photo of Atatürk and was adopting a more middle-of-the-road stance.
Furthermore, artists who do not give open support to Ekrem İmamoğlu are being criticized on social media. The attempt to mitigate reactions by sharing a photo of Atatürk has drawn criticism from many people.
This situation has also led to an increase in criticism among some actors toward their colleagues. In particular, the post made by Hayal Köseoğlu on this subject caused a great stir.
