Latest status of dams in Istanbul: Dropped below 50 percent

Following days without precipitation in Istanbul, water levels in the dams continue to decline. According to İSKİ data, the occupancy rate has fallen below 50 percent as of today, recorded at 49.86 percent. This rate has gone down in history as the 3rd lowest occupancy level of the last 10 years.

Latest status of dams in Istanbul: Dropped below 50 percent

Due to extreme heat, the effect of evaporation, and days without precipitation, water levels in Istanbul's dams are decreasing every day. In measurements conducted by İSKİ, the occupancy rate in Istanbul's dams has fallen below 50 percent. The occupancy rate was measured at 49.86 percent.

Alibeyköy Dam, one of the primary dams supplying water to Istanbul, has been the most affected by the drought. While it filled up to 80 percent during the winter months, the occupancy rate at Alibeyköy Dam has declined to 16.26 percent as of today. At Sazlıdere Dam, another important dam in Istanbul, the occupancy rate was measured at 51.76 percent. It has now become possible to drive cars in areas that were previously filled with water.

According to İSKİ data, the dam where water has decreased the most is Alibeyköy Dam with an occupancy rate of 16.26 percent. The fullest dam in Istanbul was recorded as Terkos Dam Lake with an occupancy rate of 63.85 percent.
