The Greek State Channel ERT announced that the famous Greek singer Vasilis Karras, known for his unique booming voice, has passed away at the age of 70.
According to reports in Greek news outlets, the Greek "laiko" (fantasy) singer Karras contracted Covid-19 and lost his life after experiencing shortness of breath at the hospital in Thessaloniki where he had been admitted.
WHO IS VASILIS KARRAS?
Karras, who had been battling cancer for a long time, was born on November 12, 1953, in Kokkinohori, near Kavala. He moved to Thessaloniki with his family at the age of 10.
Karras, who was introduced to the stage at the age of 16, recorded his first album, Alismonites Ores, in 1980 and began his ascent to fame.
