Singer Melike Şahin won the Best Female Singer of the Year award at the 49th Pantene Golden Butterfly Awards last night.

Following the award, Şahin spoke about the concert organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) for teachers, which she had cancelled recently.

'IT WAS VERY SHAMEFUL FOR THE PEOPLE'

Stating that there would be a make-up date and that these were 'temporary resentments,' Şahin continued her words as follows:

"The issue was not left hanging. My company also made a good statement; you might have missed it. I have nothing to say right now about convincing anyone. It was just very shameful for the people who came there. They were victimized for a reason that had nothing to do with me. That's why I was very sad. It just has nothing to do with me; that process was managed very poorly."

WHAT HAPPENED?

The concert organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), where singer Melike Şahin was set to perform for teachers, was cancelled.

In a statement on her Instagram account, Melike Şahin said, "I am very sad, our Feshane concert has been postponed. I waited ready until the last moment, I swear. They said there was too much wind; both the municipality and my team found it risky for our safety... Even though I missed my concerts so much and this evening was going to be special with our teachers, this disruption has nothing to do with me; I still apologize for the disappointment."

In a statement made by the IMM Department of Culture, it was stated that Şahin did not want to take the stage.

The statement said, "Dear teachers, despite all our efforts to express that there was no wind problem for hours and all the assurances we gave, we had to postpone the concert because Melike Şahin's team could not be convinced to take the stage. In line with your requests, we will be with you with another artist. We apologize to you very much."
