Melting glaciers are slowing down the Earth's rotation!

A new study by the University of California, San Diego has revealed that the melting of polar glaciers due to climate change is causing the Earth to rotate more slowly than in the past.

In the study, which examined the effects of geophysical events on the Earth's rotation using mathematical models, it was determined that the melting of polar glaciers is causing the Earth to rotate more slowly than it used to.

The study's author, geophysicist Duncan Agnew, noted that the change in sea level resulting from melting glaciers has reached a level where the impact on the Earth's rotation speed can be observed.

Agnew stated, "It's pretty impressive, even to me, that we've done something that has measurably changed how fast the Earth rotates."
