According to the Eid al-Adha forecast for May 27-30, showers are expected in most of the country, while temperatures will rise on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts.
The General Directorate of Meteorology has updated its weather forecast for the Eid al-Adha holiday, covering May 27-28-29-30. According to the forecasts, partly to very cloudy weather will prevail across Turkey throughout the holiday; intermittent showers and thunderstorms are expected in most of the country.
Air temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal norms in the southern, central, and eastern parts of the country, and around seasonal norms in other regions. Citizens planning holiday visits and travel are advised to follow the latest warnings, especially in provinces where precipitation is expected.
In Ankara and the Central Anatolia Region, cool and cloudy weather will be prominent during the first two days of the holiday. Temperatures in the region are expected to remain slightly below seasonal norms, with the coolness becoming more pronounced in the evening hours due to light winds. In the capital, the weather is expected to clear up from the third day of the holiday onwards, with the perceived temperature rising to 26 degrees.
A more summer-like picture is predicted for the Aegean coast. In İzmir, temperatures are expected to hover around 27 degrees on the first day of the holiday, rising to 32 degrees on the third and fourth days as the wind subsides.
Hot and sunny weather will also prevail in the Mediterranean Region. While temperatures in Antalya are expected to remain in the 29-30 degree range throughout the holiday, it is noted that the heat index may increase in Adana and its surroundings due to humidity.
In Southeastern Anatolia, temperatures are expected to reach higher levels. It is estimated that thermometers could see the 35-36 degree range in provinces such as Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, and Gaziantep. Especially between 11:00 and 16:00, it is advised that the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses should not stay under direct sunlight for long periods.
