As the rise in attempted violence against women and children draws backlash, citizens are demanding that attackers be punished in the harshest way possible, including the death penalty if necessary.
Many artists have also expressed their discomfort and shared their views on the subject. One of them is actor Metin Akpınar.
In a broadcast he attended, Akpınar responded to the statement, "They say the death penalty should be brought back for rapists, perverts, and child killers."
"GOD GIVES LIFE, THE STATE DOES NOT TAKE IT"
Emphasizing that he is against the death penalty, the veteran actor said, "God gives life, the state does not take life. The state should not take life, but much more deterrent punishments can be given."
"STOPPING THEIR SEXUAL ACTIVITY IS A VERY GOOD PUNISHMENT"
Arguing that chemical castration is a correct punishment, Akpınar stated, "I think stopping the sexual activity of someone who rapes a child is a very good punishment."
