Ayhan Taktaş, mother of social media influencer Yağmur Taktaş who died in the US: 'The fame that came with the competition darkened our lives'
Social media influencer Yağmur Taktaş, who became famous after participating in a TV competition in Turkey, passed away in the US in recent weeks. Her mother, Ayhan Taktaş, holds A.C.F., a Turkish-born US citizen, and the fame that turned their lives upside down responsible for her daughter's death. The mother stated, "When A.C.F. entered my daughter's life, our lives ended. My daughter couldn't escape."
Ayhan Taktaş, the mother of Yağmur Taktaş, who is alleged to have been killed by her boyfriend A.C.F. in the US, spoke to Günaydın.
Mother Taktaş stated that in her last conversation, her daughter said, "Mom, this man is starving me; he took my money and my passport. He is locking me in the house," and added: "A.C.F. entered my daughter's life, and our lives ended. He killed my daughter. I saw her before she was buried; she had dropped below 40 kilograms, her body was covered in bruises, and her hair and eyebrows had been shaved off," she recounted.
Here are Ayhan Taktaş's statements:
"My soul is gone. I laid my Yağmur to rest at a young age. It is the hardest pain for a mother. They called in the middle of the night and said, 'Your daughter is dead.' They destroyed my daughter. My Yağmur was a very hardworking girl. We are a poor family. I raised my daughter by cleaning houses. She was my only child. My daughter always used to tell me, 'I will work hard, mommy, and make you comfortable.' But when A.C.F. entered my daughter's life, our lives ended. My daughter couldn't escape him.
My daughter tried to break up with him many times, but he wouldn't leave her alone. He poisoned our lives for three years. He was constantly threatening us. He would say, 'I will kill you, I will kill your daughter, and I will kill your husband.' Yağmur was living with us. He would come to our neighborhood and attack us on the street many times. We are poor people; we don't even know how to read or write.
We couldn't cope with this man. I couldn't save my daughter. He beat my Yağmur so badly in a hotel in Istanbul that they had to remove her spleen. He would film himself beating my daughter. When her spleen ruptured, my daughter screamed. He left my daughter in that state, and hotel staff rushed her to the hospital.
My daughter filed a complaint, and a lawsuit was opened against that man. He came to Adana to be with my daughter so he wouldn't get a sentence from the case. Then he took my daughter to America with threats.
'HE GAVE MY DAUGHTER DRUGS'
Did your daughter use drugs?
No. I never encountered such a situation while she was in Adana. But that man was using them. He might have forced my daughter to take them. My daughter never used such things when she was with me. He would leave my daughter hungry for days, and then when she was in that state, he would give her drugs, and she would fall ill. The person primarily responsible for everything my daughter went through is that man's mother. His mother also assaulted my daughter in America.
How did you receive the news of her death?
A number called me in the middle of the night and said, 'Your daughter is dead.' Then another number called and said, 'We are calling from the hospital, your daughter is dead.' They didn't say anything about how she died. Later, through our lawyer, we found some correspondence. This man was with Yağmur when she was dying. He called the ambulance. He gave my daughter drugs.
My daughter was a victim of murder. My daughter called me from America and said, 'Mom, he is going to kill me, I won't be able to return home.' My daughter's body arrived. A.C.F. killed my daughter. They kept my daughter's body in America for more than ten days. The autopsy report there stated that there were bruises on my daughter's arms and legs. But when I spoke to my daughter via video call 3 days before she died, Yağmur's eyebrow was split, and her whole body was covered in bruises. Her hair and eyebrows were shaved off. I also saw her while she was being washed before we buried her.
Her body was full of bruises. Her hair and eyebrows were shaved. We didn't want to keep her body waiting so that my daughter could find peace as soon as possible. We buried her when she arrived from America. But I am sure my daughter was murdered. Thank goodness for our lawyer Fethi Öksüz, he started the legal process. My daughter's grave was reopened for an autopsy. That man killed my daughter. First, he ruptured my daughter's spleen, and then he killed her. The one who helped that man is his mother. I laid my young daughter to rest. I raised my daughter by cleaning. What efforts I made. It is very difficult; I buried my only child. My heart is a place of fire.
I wish my daughter had never participated in that program, had never become famous, so that these troubles wouldn't have happened to her and I wouldn't have lost my daughter. That man is walking around freely in America, while my daughter lies under the ground. Let him serve his sentence so this monster doesn't burn other mothers' hearts. When that man is caught and extradited, I will go to my daughter's grave and say, 'My baby, you can sleep peacefully now.'"
WHEN I LAST SAW HER, HER EYEBROWS AND HAIR WERE SHAVED OFF
How was she when you saw your daughter for the last time?
That man had shaved my daughter's eyebrows and hair. My daughter was unrecognizable. Because he kept my Yağmur hungry, my daughter had dropped below 40 kilograms. My beautiful daughter was in a miserable state. She was unrecognizable. I also saw her before we buried my daughter. My daughter was in a pitiful state. May the hearts of those who made my daughter go through this also burn.
