Murathan Mungan reacts to IYI Party's use of 'Maskeli Balo': Preparing to file a lawsuit

Poet and author Murathan Mungan will file a lawsuit against the IYI Party over an election video they released titled 'Maskeli Balo' (Masquerade Ball).

Stating that the song, with lyrics by Mungan and music by Manos Loizos, was used by the IYI Party without his knowledge, Mungan wrote the following on the social media platform X:

"I have learned with sadness that the lines that form the spirit and idea of my song known as 'Maskeli Balo' have been used by a political party without my consent or knowledge. I would like to announce that a lawsuit will be filed regarding the matter tomorrow by Bişar Alınak & Partners."

Following IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener's 'Maskeli Balo' remarks, in which she placed the opposition and the government in the same category, an election video titled 'Maskeli Balo' was published on the IYI Party's social media account yesterday evening.
