In the Southern Victoria region of Australia, a fisherman went viral after sharing images of a mysterious sea creature that got caught on his fishing line.
Thousands of comments poured in on the images, which drew great interest from social media users.
SPECIES IDENTIFIED
After the images went viral on social media, Dr. Merrick Ekins from the Queensland Museum stated in an explanation that the sea creature was likely a sea pen of the virgularia species.
The Collection Manager of Sessile Marine Invertebrates stated, "These are endemic and are not harmful."
