NASA has issued a warning regarding a massive asteroid rapidly approaching Earth.
The giant asteroid, named "2024 ON," is estimated to have a diameter of more than 213 meters and is expected to pass near Earth on September 15, 2024.
NASA's Near-Earth Object Observations Program first detected this asteroid. Scientists have gathered comprehensive information about the asteroid's size, shape, and composition.
The asteroid will pass at a distance approximately 2.6 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.
THE HEIGHT OF A 60-STORY BUILDING
2024 ON is larger than most asteroids that pass near Earth. For comparison, it can be said that the celestial body is about the height of a 60-story building.
While the object's estimated speed of approximately 25,000 miles per hour raises concerns, it is noted that even the slightest deviation in its path could have significant consequences.
Analyses conducted using powerful radar and optical telescopes have evaluated the potential effects of the asteroid.
Despite its size and high speed, the probability of a collision with Earth is currently considered low.
Scientists will continue to monitor the asteroid's close approach and continue to collect data that will help us understand the dynamic processes of the universe.
