In Bursa, 20-year-old national karate athlete Emir Buğra Gencan, who was injured in a traffic accident 5 days ago, has passed away at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
On February 24, in the Yıldırım district, the motorcycle driven by Gencan, an athlete for the Turkey U21 Men's National Karate Team, collided with a car in the Şükraniye neighborhood.
The young karate athlete, who was thrown from the motorcycle and severely injured, was taken to Bursa City Hospital.
Gencan, a karate athlete competing in the 84 kg weight class for Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, could not be saved despite the efforts of doctors at the hospital.
Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş shared his sorrow over the national athlete's passing in a statement on his social media account, offering his condolences to his family, loved ones, and the karate community.
