Nejat İşler, who was awarded Best Actor at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival for his role in the film Evcilik, directed by Ümit Ünal, made statements on a YouTube channel he appeared on.
Speaking on OT TV, İşler compared two famous directors, Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Zeki Demirkubuz. The famous actor used the phrase, "Nuri is probably going to kill me."
"ZEKİ IS HUMAN, NURİ BİLGE IS CHASING DESIGNED THINGS"
Nejat İşler stated the following:
"Zeki is human. Nuri Bilge is chasing after designed things. I worked very well with Bilge. It was wonderful, top-notch. Do you know that Zeki spent time in prison? For a long time, by the way. He was in prison after the September 12 coup. The man is a director, a storyteller.
"NURİ IS PROBABLY GOING TO KILL ME"
Our company's name is Meddah. We chose it on purpose. We must tell everyone's story. This place is overflowing with stories. Go get a story from South Korea, go get something from America, go get something from France. My son, this place is overflowing with stories. Down there is Mesopotamia. Humanity started here. Go back 50 thousand years. Humanity started in Mesopotamia. And are we doing this; (referencing Nuri Bilge Ceylan's film) 'Once Upon a Time in Anatolia'... It doesn't fly, it doesn't fly, it doesn't fly... That was a cowboy movie. Once Upon a Time in the West. Zeki says 'Life'. Very beautiful work. Nuri is probably going to kill me (laughing). Zeki is uncalculating, that's why I love him."
Nejat İşler had starred in Nuri Bilge Ceylan's film Winter Sleep.
