Nemrut Crater Lake begins welcoming tourists

Tourists traveling to Tatvan drive their vehicles as far as the summit and complete the remaining distance by hiking. Tourists enjoy being in touch with nature by walking for approximately 5 hours and setting up tents by the lakeshore.

The 2,250-altitude Nemrut Caldera, which received the 'Award of Excellence' within the scope of the European Destinations of Excellence project, attracts nature lovers throughout the year with its natural beauty, unique scenery, and rich biodiversity.

Dr. Cihan Önen, a faculty member at Bitlis Eren University who takes photos of nature, wildlife, and space, also reached the Nemrut Caldera after walking for about 4 hours with his companions.

Önen, who filmed the visitors in the area and two French tourists camping there, said, "We are at the beginning of May, but there is still snow in many places. Despite this, domestic and international tourists are witnessing the beauty of the region, even if it means walking. This is a wonderful place."
