Netanyahu's message to Iran: 'The State of Israel will do everything to protect itself'
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that while they appreciate the suggestions and advice from friendly countries regarding an attack against Iran, they will make their own decisions. Netanyahu said, "The State of Israel will do everything to protect itself."
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that they will "make their own decisions" regarding an attack against Iran.
In his speech at the opening of the cabinet meeting, Netanyahu shared that he had come to the meeting after holding talks with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and British Foreign Minister David Cameron, who were visiting his country.
Expressing his gratitude to "friendly countries that contribute to Israel's defense with their statements and actions," Netanyahu said, "Friendly countries are offering us many suggestions and advice. I appreciate them, but I must state this clearly: We will make our own decisions, and the State of Israel will do everything to protect itself."
IRAN-ISRAEL TENSION
Israel had carried out an airstrike on Iran's consulate building in Damascus on April 1. Seven Iranian officials, including two generals from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, were killed in the attack.
Iran had announced that Israel's consulate attack meant an attack on its own territory and that they would retaliate. Israel, in turn, had declared that it would respond to Iran's attack.
On April 13, Iran launched an attack on Israel with hundreds of kamikaze drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles.
Iran stated that some targets were hit, while Israel announced that most of the attacks were intercepted by air defense systems, though a missile did strike a military base in the south.
The Israeli press had claimed that the Tel Aviv administration had decided to respond to Iran's air attack in an "open and effective" manner.
