New film from Kaan Müjdeci: Iguana Tokyo has been released

The film, which was partially shot in Tokyo and received support from the Bunka-cho film fund provided by the UNIJAPAN organization of the Japanese Ministry of Culture, held its premiere at Shibuya Eurospace, attended by Kaan Müjdeci and co-producer Kanat Doğramacı from Turkey.

'I PAINTED TOKYO'

Müjdeci stated, "It can be said that the film is a work that brings together all the time and space I felt in Tokyo. The gaming world and the limited space of real life... Much more than a painting... I wanted to express what I felt, so I painted the Tokyo I felt while riding the train and walking."

Starring Saadet Işıl Aksoy, Ertan Saban, and Deniz Ülkü, 'Iguana Tokyo' focuses on the bold subconscious of an ordinary three-person family consisting of a mother, father, and daughter living in Tokyo.

The film brings to the big screen the way a virtual reality game called M² captures the human world with an extraordinary and clever narrative.

ABOUT IGUANA TOKYO

"Iguana Tokyo", which was among the 15 projects invited to the Cannes L’Atelier as part of the 69th Cannes Film Festival, received support from the Bunka-cho film fund, which has been provided by the Japanese Ministry of Culture's UNIJAPAN organization since 1974.

The film was invited to the Venice Gap Financing Market as part of the 76th Venice International Film Festival.

In 2019, Kaan Müjdeci transformed "Iguana Tokyo" into an artwork titled "Iguana Tokyo Prologue," which met art lovers at the exhibition titled "Compiling Behaviors, Digesting Actions" at Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo.

The film, which had its world premiere at the 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, won the Best Art Director Award at the National Feature Film Competition; and at the 42nd Istanbul Film Festival, it won the awards for Best Art Director and Best Original Music.
