New works added to Andy Warhol exhibition

The exhibition, which features 142 works by the American painter, graphic designer, and film producer Andy Warhol, can be visited at the Istanbul Tulip Museum until March 31, 2024.

Following the conclusion of the exhibition, a portion of the works will be displayed in various provinces across Turkey.

ANDY WARHOL AND CATS

In the 1950s, while Andy Warhol was sharing a small apartment in New York with his mother Julia, he adopted a female Siamese cat named Hester one day, followed shortly by the famous male cat Sam. Andy's story with cats, with whom he lived alongside about 25 others, extended to publishing a 190-part book in their name. Andy depicted animals in his works in a playful and lively manner.

Andy Warhol left unforgettable marks on the art world and popular culture with his creative works and unique style, becoming one of the turning points of contemporary art. As a leading representative of the Pop Art movement, Warhol is known for the radical approaches he brought to the art world.

Born in Pittsburgh in 1928, Andy Warhol was the child of a Slovak immigrant family. Starting his art career by creating commercial illustrations, Warhol eventually became one of the most colorful and striking figures of the modern art world.

Warhol began his career as a commercial illustrator and graphic designer in the advertising world, but soon distinguished himself with a unique approach that would push the boundaries of the art world. Moving to New York, he began to make a name for himself in the art world starting in the mid-1950s. The foundation of his art was built on showcasing the impressive and ordinary objects of American consumer culture.
