Nihal Candan describes her cellmate Seçil Erzan: 'Constantly in front of us...'

Sisters Bahar and Nihal Candan (Gülnihal Çiçek), known from the fashion competition "İşte Benim Stilim" and later as social media influencers, along with Hacı İsrafil Sağlam, were detained on November 14, 2023, as part of an investigation conducted by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on allegations of "money laundering."

The influencer sisters were arrested and sent to prison on November 16, 2023. While the judicial process was ongoing, Nihal Candan developed anorexia and her weight dropped to 37 kilograms. After a medical report stated that her treatment could not be continued in prison, she was hospitalized and subsequently released from prison.

Following her release, Nihal Candan spoke about her days in prison on a YouTube channel she appeared on. Candan also made notable remarks about Seçil Erzan, the former bank manager who was arrested on charges of defrauding a total of 21 people, including Arda Turan, Emre Belözoğlu, Fernando Muslera, and Selçuk İnan.

Stating that she did not want to spend time with Erzan in prison, Candan said, "She had entered 7 months before us. Honestly, I didn't want to stay with her much because having someone constantly in a state of panic, in war mode, and experiencing a fear of death in front of us wouldn't be good for my sister Bahar and me."

"While we were watching a TV series for 5 minutes, we would forget where we were at that moment, but she wasn't like that," said Candan, adding, "It was as if she always had a file she needed to work on. Waking up to A4 paper for a while didn't do me any good at all."

"I THINK SHE IS INNOCENT"

Stating that she believes Seçil Erzan is innocent, Nihal Candan said, "I think she is innocent. It is not as much as they say. At most, she made a mistake to cover up something in her profession or she didn't tell the upper management, that is."

When asked, "Was Seçil Erzan happy to be in the same cell as you?" Candan replied, "Her job was harder, two crazy people. When I say crazy, these girls don't act like they are in prison; they talk about weight, hair, and skin care. This was necessary to occupy the brain."
